God Generously Pours Into Our Lives

"We can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives."
Romans 5:5

This painting is a reminder that God is always pouring blessings into our lives, beyond our capacity to hold. The rain symbolizes the blessings pouring into our lives, even when our lives may seem to be touched with sorrow. The bowl is inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of beautiful repair that I wrote about in Mended. With kintsugi broken pottery is not discarded, but is repaired with gold. The resulting piece is even more precious and more valuable after the repair than it was before it was broken. I view our lives as works of kintsugi in God's hands. We are all broken and damaged, but we can be mended and repaired, and are not diminished. We do not become unworthy of blessing. Our broken experiences make us even more valuable and more able to be of service.
