Sun of Righteousness

The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings!
Malachi 4:2

A Life of Love

Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it!
1 Corinthians 14:1

Dwell in the House of the Lord

Under His Wings

Under his wings you will find refuge. Psalms 9:1

Trust Steadily Hope Unswervingly Love Extravagantly

Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly.
1 Corinthians 13:13

The Lord is my Strength

The Lord is my strength and my shield.
Psalms 28:7

Every Detail in Our Lives

Every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good! Romans 8:28
Just a daily reminder that EVERY LITTLE DETAIL of your life, the beautiful ones and the heavy dark ones, are part of something bigger. All of those details are making up the whole of our lives, and while each detail may not be good, nothing is wasted.

When My Heart is Overwhelmed

When my heart is overwhelmed lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Psalm 61:2

Today feels so tender. My social media feed is filled with people who are relieved and pleased with the outcome of the election, and also with friends who are feeling broken hearted and afraid. Everyone is looking at a country divided and wondering how exactly we move forward and what the future holds. It's all got me feeling a bit soul bruised.

This verse has been stuck in my head all morning. Though my heart is overwhelmed, I have a rock to run to that is higher than I. God is in control! I pray all our elected officials receive humility and wisdom in the months and years to come.

Every God Direction is Road Tested!

Every God-direction is road tested. Everyone who runs toward him makes it! 2 Samuel 22:31

I love this verse. What security! No matter how lost or depressed or confused I may feel, no matter how uncertain of my purpose or what to do with the choices that lie in front of me, I can BE AT PEACE!

If God is with us, then our direction is "road tested." No matter how unclear things may feel, the truth is that we are going to make it!

Where You Are Right Now

Where you are right now is God's place for you.
1 Corinthians 7:17

So many times I question if I've made the right life decisions. I wonder if I'm really where I'm supposed to be in my life, which right now is staying at home caring for one chubby baby, doing school runs and grocery shopping and cleaning up messes. I felt the same way when I worked full time as a school counselor and spent many hours in meetings and doing paperwork. I questioned whether I was doing enough in the world. There was always some bigger "out there" I imagined that I should be doing to make my life really count.

This verse reminds me that there is no other place we are supposed to be. There is no boat that we missed. We are not lost on some path without purpose or end. The place we are in this moment-it's the right place!

Stand In the Wide Open Spaces of God's Grace and Glory

We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that He has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand, out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory. Romans 5:2

This is one of my favorite verses. I love the idea that when we open ourselves to God we discover his door is already THROWN WIDE OPEN! Not cracked...WIDE OPEN.

Sometimes I get lost in mental darkness or confusion or hung up on trying to understand. I forget all I have to do is just open the door. I don't have to have the answers, I don't have to get it together, I don't have to prove I'm worthy. Just open the door and walk out into wide open spaces of grace and glory where Love is already waiting.

This base of this painting is a polar view of the world. To me the boots represent walking out into the wideness of the world with our heart doors wide open! I'll be posting this in the etsy shop later today:

God Generously Pours Into Our Lives

"We can't round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives."
Romans 5:5

This painting is a reminder that God is always pouring blessings into our lives, beyond our capacity to hold. The rain symbolizes the blessings pouring into our lives, even when our lives may seem to be touched with sorrow. The bowl is inspired by kintsugi, the Japanese art of beautiful repair that I wrote about in Mended. With kintsugi broken pottery is not discarded, but is repaired with gold. The resulting piece is even more precious and more valuable after the repair than it was before it was broken. I view our lives as works of kintsugi in God's hands. We are all broken and damaged, but we can be mended and repaired, and are not diminished. We do not become unworthy of blessing. Our broken experiences make us even more valuable and more able to be of service.
